Sword Drill- Luke 1:37 “Nothing is impossible for God.”

Week 4; Praying for everything along the way.

God is a big God and he can do HUMUNGOUS things in our lives if we let him….He can also answer our small prayers that we may think mean nothing to God. No matter how important the need God hears and answers when we call on him.
• So is it wrong for you to pray that God will help you find your Nintendo DS, or your Hannah Montana CD?
• We can glorify God even in the smallest parts of our life.
The story of the lost Axhead.
• In the bible we are told a story about a man losing an axhead that he borrowed from a friend. The man prayed to God ans asked God to make a way for him to get the axhead back, God gave his prophet Elisha power to raise the missing axhead from the bottom of the river.

So Why does God care?
• Because he loves us, he is good to us because he want s us to learn to completely depend on him in everything.
• Whats important to know is that God doesn’t want us to always pry to him asking him to do things for us, he wants to ask him to help us, and give us his strength, and know that he will be there through everything and help us if we trust him.

BE JOYFUL:

1 Thessalonians 5:13b-16:
“Live in peace with each other. We ask you, brothers and sisters, to warn those who do not work. Encourage the people who are afraid. Help those who are weak. Be patient with everyone. Be sure that no one pays wrong for wrong, but always try to do what is good for each other and for all people.”

PRAY CONTINUALLY, GIVE THANKS:

We had talked about prayer how we should give glory to God and thank Him, then we said you need to make pinpoint prayers. Then we talked about how you need to pray BIG prayers, because God hears all of our prayers. Now we need to learn how we need to pray continuously.

There is no yellow or red light in prayer…we are to always see the GREEN light.

Speaker: Pastor Mike

Sword Drill- Luke 1:13

Before we read our verse, Pastor Mike pulled out a small basketball hoop. He let kids take turns at slam dunking the basketball. The point was that it is very easy to dunk a really small basketball hoop. Then he raised it to about 6 ft. He had kids try to dunk it again. This time they couldn’t. It was too high for them. However, Pastor Mike was able to easily dunk it without even jumping.

Here’s the Point:

A lot of times we pray for things that we do not even really need Gods help on. For example: If I was a genius that received straight A’s in school without hardly trying and prayed to God to help me at least pass the class…that is a pray that I did not need as much assistance in. Whereas my aunt who is dying of cancer needs a miracle just to live…that is a pray I need to be praying because it can only be completed with God’s help.

Pastor Mike used his life verse: Psalm 60:12

“With God’s help you can do mighty things, and He will cast down your enemies”

Pastor Mike emphasized that BIG prayers are different for everyone. For instance, with the basketball hoop, dunking the 6 ft hoop was out of their reach…it was a BIG prayer for them…whereas that one was easy for Pastor Mike. However, the 10 ft hoop is out of reach for him, and it is a BIG prayer for Pastor Mike.

The main scripture:

We then talked about Zechariah and Elizabeth. They were older and wanted a baby. God sent an angel that told Zechariah, “God has heard your prayers” and God blessed them with a baby.

Main Point: God hears all of our prayers…so why not start trusting Him with some BIG ones?

Speaker: Pastor Mike

Sword Drill- Matthew 6:7-13

First Pastor Mike showed the kids how small a pinpoint is. It’s so small that it is actually hard to focus your eyes on. Then Pastor Mike showed them a map of Springfield. Springfield is this big place when you are looking at a map. However a pin can be used to point out a small spot on that map, such as a street or crossroads. And that is how we should pray.

We should pray pinpoint prayers. Instead of just saying “God help my family” try saying things like “God help my mom, she really needs…, and help my dad with work because he is having a hard time with …”

#1 is that we want to be specific when we pray.

#2 is that we want to use the Bible when we pray.

Look in all the stories about when Jesus prayed. He would always use scripture. So that is a great reason why we need to be reading our Bibles, so that we will know scripture to use when we pray.

Then the kids were given time to pray on their own. Pastor Mike challenged them to pray pinpoint prayers
